I am a passionate visual artist and Art teacher with 30 years experience teaching ceramics and fine arts media. I graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and certificate to teach Art K-12 in 1991. I have taught art PK-8 in Chicago Public Schools, taught art 9-12 in Lee County Public Schools, taught art in Art centers in Chicago, Big Arts on Sanibel, and the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers. My passion IS  the art making process- the journey of discovery and creativity and  the positive interaction that Art impresses upon the young artists - being fascinated and focused.

Originally from Virginia, Angel Elza received her BFA in Studio Art from James Madison University in 2010. She spent the beginning of her professional career living and working outside of Washington, DC, then moved on to New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX before deciding to call SWFL her home in 2014. She currently teaches Art at River Hall Elementary and enjoys staying active in the SWFL arts community. Angel has a passion for creating with her hands and enjoys the meditative experience that is working with clay. Her students describe her as a fun and motivational teacher; she looks forward to working with you to discover and hone your skills in clay.

I have a Masters in Art Education and have been teaching for the School District of Lee County for twelve years.  I was recognized this 2022/2023 school year as a Teacher of Distinction by the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools Golden Apple Program.  As a middle school teacher, I have experience teaching all mediums; however, ceramics is one of my favorite ways to create art.
